Gender and Healthcare in Haryana Clinic (2015-16)

This course was developed to explore the intersections of gender and health by cataloguing the experiences of healthcare providers, especially ASHA workers and ANMs, who play an integral role in sustaining the public health infrastructure in the rural areas.

Students engaged with a comprehensive study of feminist and anti-discrimination theories and the healthcare system in India.

During the second half of the semester, we conducted interviews and consultations with ASHA workers, ANMs and healthcare professionals in Haryana. Also, as part of this clinical project, students developed a pamphlet drawing attention to the rights violations and other issues faced by ASHA workers, which was used to develop an online campaign on the rights of ASHA workers.
