Mentorship at CJLS

The Centre for Justice, Law, and Society (CJLS) regularly hosts several activities for the students and faculty every month. These activities include reading groups, the Life After Law series, and scholar talks, among others. These activities help students and faculty engage with various literature and provide guidance on academic life and opportunities available for pursuing a master's degree.

Reading Groups

CJLS regularly hosts reading groups for our faculty as well as for our interns to engage with literature on gender and sexuality, feminist theory, and critical legal theory. Reading Groups provide the unique opportunity to interns to hone their critical engagement skills by indulging in meaningful discussion with one another under the guidance of CJLS Faculty members. It helps students act as reflective researchers and engage with issues empathetically.

Scholar Talks

Every month, CJLS invites a senior academic to speak with young scholars on their research journeys, writing process, and career development in academia. Scholar Talks provide the interns great exposure to the world of academia and advocacy by allowing them to engage with various scholars and learn about their research journeys. These engagements have inspired many students and shaped their thought process by exposing them to latest topics and methodologies.

Life After Law

CJLS hosts Life After Law Session every month and invite young professionals to speak about their journeys in law school, choosing career paths, and decisions to obtain LL.M. degrees. The Life after Law Graduation Talks allows the interns to learn from the experiences of recent law graduates, and helps them chart their pathways post law school. This engagement helps generate awareness about the possible options and less known career trajectories, thereby helping young law students to make an informed decision.
