GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The CJLS team is organised in a non-hierarchal manner and is composed primarily of women, queer, trans and non-binary persons who bring a diversity of lived experiences and represent the various religious, caste, and gender identities that inform our approach. At the Centre For Justice Law & Society, we endeavour to adopt a non hierarchical approach towards the day to day decision making for the Centre’s operations. For this reason, we have constituted a Core Committee that comprises of the Director, the Assistant Director and three other members of the team. The colleagues are invited to be members of the Core Committee for a period of two years after which the position is offered to another set of team members to ensure that each individual is given the opportunity to take on leadership roles at the Centre.

The Core Committee convenes every 2 months and works in consultation with the Centre’s team to develop internal and external working policies and is the body responsible for making decisions concerning the everyday operations of the Centre, which include decisions pertaining to recruitments, partnerships and collaborations and all matters concerning the Centre’s ongoing work.

The present Core Committee was constituted in May 2024 and currently comprises of Professor Dipika Jain, Ahana Bag, Anmol Diwan, Sneha Mukherjee, Tavleen Kaur Saluja and Vrishti Shami .
