Transmen Collective, Alliance India, Egale Canada, and the Law and Marginalisation Clinic, Centre for Justice, Law and Society at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) collectively organised the Workshop on the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

In 2018, we published a handbook on the rights of transgender and gender-variant persons pursuant to the Supreme Court judgment in National Legal Services Authority v Union of India as part of our Gender Legal Recognition Clinic. Pursuant to the enactment of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 (the Transgender Persons Act), there remained an urgent need to demystify the provisions of the Act and the rules thereunder. The workshop aimed at encouraging students to engage in consultations and develop an updated Handbook on the Transgender Persons Act.
