Rishav graduated from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab in 2022, specializing in criminal law. During his time at law school, he interned with multiple think tanks and policy organizations, where he developed a keen interest in human rights, gender laws, LGBTQIA+ rights, and issues of marginalization.

Rishav has worked at Centre for Justice, Law and Society in capacity of as an intern, a Research Assistant and subsequently joined the centre as a research fellow after his graduation. After completing his fellowship with the Centre, he worked as a Research Associate.

During his tenure at CJLS, Rishav undertook diverse responsibilities and contributed to various initiatives. He worked on a comprehensive report focusing on the criminalization of abortion and its impact in countries across South and Southeast Asia. Additionally, he participated in a report analyzing the inclusion of transgender and gender variant individuals in higher educational institutions in India. Rishav was also actively involved in researching the prosecution of individuals under abortion laws in India. Furthermore, Rishav actively participated in organizing workshops and consultations. Additionally, he provided assistance in legal aid work.
