Shyamali Kumar completed her bachelor's degree from the Institute of Law, Nirma University, and her master's degree in Constitutional and Administrative Law from Gujarat National Law University. Additionally, she pursued a second master's in International Human Rights Law from the University of Groningen. Her research masters thesis focused on "Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in the Context of Climate Change: Why and How SRHR Can Contribute to a Robust Climate Crisis Framework with a Special Reference to India.

Her work involved academic research, report writing, and article production, particularly on the gendered impacts of international conflict and climate change. Her primary interests lie at the intersection of gender and health, with a specific focus on reproductive health.

As a Clinical Faculty at the Law and Marginalisation Clinic, Shyamali co-taught the Reproductive Justice and Law Clinic for the Fall 2024 semester. At the Centre, Shyamali assisted in curating the Instagram Live series on the Rights of Transgender Persons. Shyamali also mentored students and Research Assistants at the Centre.
