Ahana Bag (She/Her)

Research and Litigation Associate, Centre for Justice, Law and Society

Ahana Bag is a lawyer and a Research Associate at CJLS. Ahana graduated from Department of Law, University of Calcutta in 2022, and pursued her LLM in Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Law from Jindal Global Law School. After graduating with an LLM, she joined Deloitte India as an Executive in Financial Advisory, and then worked in the Data Protection and POSH Department at S.S. Rana & Co. Ahana was first associated with CJLS in May 2020, as an intern and continued with the organisation as a Research Assistant for two years. During her time at CJLS, she has worked on a myriad of issues relating to access to health, reproductive justice, and discrimination and marginalisation of communities. Her interests lie in the study on gender, health, and history.

In popular assumption, there lies a rift between academic discourse and grassroot activism. CJLS, in its capacity as a research centre that engages with the issues at the intersection of law, justice, and marginalisation, attempts to bridge this divide. It pays heed to lived experiences and is cognizant of the unique identities and varying vulnerabilities of different members of society. To be associated with CJLS, is a privilege, and through my work with the centre I wish to critically engage with the law and help in improving access to justice.
