Shyamali Kumar completed her bachelor's degree from the Institute of Law, Nirma University, and her master's degree in Constitutional and Administrative Law from Gujarat National Law University. Additionally, she pursued a second master's in International Human Rights Law from the University of Groningen. Her research masters thesis focused on "Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in the Context of Climate Change: Why and How SRHR Can Contribute to a Robust Climate Crisis Framework with a Special Reference to India.

Shyamali worked at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) as a TRIP Fellow, where she collaborated with the Criminal Justice Clinic and the Clinical Legal Education team. She also served as a legal researcher at Global Human Rights Defence at The Hague, contributing to the women's rights team. Her work involved academic research, report writing, and article production, particularly on the gendered impacts of international conflict and climate change. Her primary interests lie at the intersection of gender and health, with a specific focus on reproductive health.
